A VERY RARE Pattern, with flashy luster and hints of mint red remaining in the peripheries.Produced by silversmiths Marrian & Gausby of Birmingham, this type signified the first attempt in Great Britain to introduce a decimal currency system. In total, 5 denominations were produced, which include: 10, 5, 2 and 1 Cent pieces as well as a 1 Centum denomination. In theory, the aim was to make 1,000 cents equal to £1. While a simple enough concept, it would not take hold in any form until 1971, exactly 125 years later, when Britain finally "went decimal".. please look at the item and judge the condition for yourself.
