    Edward III. York Mint. Long Cross Penny
    1327-1335 AD. First coinage. (1.0g;17.8x15.4mm) Obv: facing bust with +EDWAR·R·ANGLDNSHYB legend with Roman Ns and pellet stops. Rev: long cross with quatrefoil at centre and pellets with three extra small pellets in TAS quarter with CIVITAS EBORACI. The Edward III first coinage is a continuation of the basic long cross penny type from Edward I and Edward II previously; these early coins of Edward III are all very rare and show distinctive features for each mint.
